brief description
This summer house is designed in two levels on a site with a very steep slope, on the island of Antiparos. The main idea is to integrate the building into the landscape of the area. Three subterranean buildings were created which, with the use of local natural materials (stone and wood), try to merge with the environment and adapt to this special landscape of the island. Large outdoor areas are created in front of the subterranean buildings, necessary in a greek island where daily life unfolds mainly in the open air. Pergolas and building elements fully integrated into the environment are positioned in strategic places in order to protect the user from the intense sun and wind. The interior of the subterranean buildings is illuminated by long slits in the ground, which create a scenographic atmosphere inside the rooms. (source: Tsolakis Architects)
