brief description
The clamor of a shopping mall contradicts the need for privacy in a residential project. To bridge the gap and facilitate interaction between residents and consumers, an intermediate common space is essential. The proposal involves two distinct levels: one dedicated to the mall and the other to housing. Interposed between them is a ramp system that not only facilitates circulation but also serves as a shared recreational area. The mall level is designed to disrupt the traditional layout of window displays, allowing customers the freedom to explore. The mall units are arranged on a grid, forming a network of stores that is interrupted by four thematic ramps, each 20 meters wide. These ramps, namely entertainment, garden, promenade, and bazaar, incorporate elements that enhance the common space and introduce unique experiences. The planning and arrangement of housing and mall units adhere to a graduated approach, transitioning from the common to the private realm, thereby imbuing each ramp with distinct qualities and functions. The ramps are interconnected by separate levels that blend the different themes together. The housing level comprises individual housing units and corridors that provide access from both the ramps and the vertical circulation towers. The interior of each unit is characterized by an open floor plan, often featuring a patio to promote natural lighting and ventilation. As a whole, the building functions as a self-contained entity, isolated from its surroundings. Its translucent polycarbonate facade highlights its introverted nature, offering glimpses of the interior to observers from the outside. Ample lighting is provided by large skylights in the roof of the building, with transparent elements incorporated into the upper part of the ramp and the spaces between the housing units. In summary, the proposed design addresses the clash between the bustling atmosphere of a mall and the need for privacy in a housing project. By integrating an intermediate common space and employing thoughtful architectural elements, the project harmoniously combines the two realms while providing residents and consumers with opportunities for interaction, recreation, and relaxation.
