brief description

LÄ stories is a participatory design project in collaboration with Lindängen Library, Malmö. The initial brief called for an installation that would allow children to tell their stories and be used as an empowerment tool for the neighborhood to resist the ‘danger of the single story’. The design process consisted mainly of weekly workshops with young people and children, participation in local events, negotiating and building relationships with the stakeholders. The final outcome of the project consisted of a web platform and an interactive object that could move around the neighborhood to incorporate a ludic exploration aspect. The notion of personal storytelling played an important role throughout the whole design process. From sharing a personal experience to the object to the reasons why this project carries personal important values for the stakeholders and designers, it seemed to initiate the discussion and give space for things to ‘get personal’, for participants to try and understand different point of views and backgrounds, give space, and relate to others.
