brief description
The Shower Plant is an interactive project designed to raise awareness about climate change and promote sustainable habits. At its core, it is an embodied interaction experience that utilizes motion, sound, and light to evoke emotions in users, similar to the tamagotchi effect. By engaging users in a playful and immersive way, the Shower Plant aims to inspire individuals to adopt more sustainable showering practices. Given the vast scope of climate change, our research led us to focus specifically on people's showering habits as a tangible and impactful aspect to address. Throughout the design process, we actively engaged with users through playful interactions to gain insights into their current sustainable habits. Additionally, we conducted interviews to explore users' perspectives on envisioning a more sustainable future. These practices were informed by theories on engagement and ally development, which emphasize the importance of actively involving users in the design process. Engagement, in the context of our design process, is seen as an embodied practice that occurs in the real world. It involves a dynamic and iterative relationship between designers and users, where both parties engage and become intertwined in understanding and taking action. This approach fosters a deeper connection between users and the Shower Plant experience, encouraging them to reflect on their showering habits and make positive changes towards a more sustainable lifestyle. Through the combination of interactive elements and thoughtful design, the Shower Plant project seeks to create a meaningful impact by raising awareness, inspiring behavioral change, and fostering a sense of environmental responsibility. By addressing one specific aspect of climate change, we hope to contribute to the larger goal of creating a more sustainable future for our planet.
